Craftsmanship is more than preserved cultural heritage; it is a creative medium that responds to contemporary needs and aesthetics, continuously inspiring new design thinking.
Chiayi City—an ancient city celebrating its 321st anniversary this year—possesses a profound artisanal foundation. These crafts have not only shaped the local landscape but are also deeply rooted in daily life and spiritual beliefs. They record the trajectories of everyday life, carry cultural memories, and reflect the identity of Chiayi’s people.
Rooted in these historical contexts, this exhibition showcases the masterful works of eight practitioners of Chiayi’s intangible cultural heritage. It invites the audience to reflect: As traditional crafts enter the digital age and face the influence of modern design and sustainability, what new possibilities might emerge?
